Your Avon Selling Kit

Your Avon Goals and Pay Scale

Once you've signed up for Avon and registered online....there is a wealth of infomation at your access. There are many training videos. If you take all 7 of the Beauty Advisor training courses you earn the designation Beauty Advisor! All 7 courses are free!

If you are a beauty advisor when someone calls AVON looking for a rep, leaders and beauty advisors numbers are given out first. A great way to build your customer base, and increase your sales is to take the courses and hold a beauty bash at your home offering free makeovers and you can use the Beauty Profile system to help you out. You can Preview the system free for 30 days. Give yourself a test spin on it and invite all of your customers, family and friends to try it out too.

There is also a community bulletin board. This is a place to ask questions, get info.....share....it's wonderful. You can find so much info on the boards.

PRESIDENTS CLUB ( What is it and why do you want it?)

Presidents club is an achievement that you earn in AVON by selling over $10,100 worth of products in a single year. The earnings accumulate from Campaign 8 or one year, all the way through the end of Campaign 7 the following year. Once you make Presidents club there are some great benefits that you get for the whole next year. First, you get to attend a luncheon and get awarded with prizes for making that awesome achievement. Second, you receive a Mrs. Albee statue to commemorate your achievement and our very first Avon rep ever. She changes every year and is a collectable item. Third, you get a GUARANTEED 40% minimum discount (except on fixed earnings items) on all your orders. That can be a great savings for you and a great profit as well. Fourth, you get access to a TOLL FREE customer service number just for Presidents club members only. Fifth, you get gifts on holidays, birthdays and your Avon anniversary. New changes at Avon!

Things to consider before you sign up....just take note of changes that Avon has made.
First and foremost....all rep orders will be made online. They are trying to cut costs, so paper purchase orders are being done away with. But since you're online right now....this probably won't matter to you. Most reps place their order online anyway. It's easy, quick and convenient.

Credit limits assigned to new reps. Avon assigns a credit limit to you when you sign up. I don't know how they score it, what they check....they DO NOT "pull" your credit. However, you are subject to this credit line. If you go over your credit line on your orders, including your first order - that order will be put on HOLD until it is paid. Avon has incurred an incredible amount of debt due to new reps placing orders and never paying for them. This is to help solve this horrible issue that hurts all of us trying to succeed with our Avon business and with trying to keep product costs down. So if your order is put on hold....this is probably why. We can tell your credit limit but we can not  release any on hold orders. They will need to be paid. So you might ask your customers to pay upfront the first few orders to help out with this. That way you can promptly pay the bill. It's not a big deal - I mean.....you're just paying for what you ordered!!

We moved to a state with NO friends and NO family....and I still built a fabulous customer base. Out of nothing. So save the "I can't do this.....it's too hard..." excuse for someone else. (I also work full time and have two kids!)

It comes down to wanting to have your own business or not. Can you pass out brochures? Can you take customer orders? Can you input the orders online? Deliver and collect payments? It's THAT easy. Not rocket science. Avon offers fabulous products...be PROUD of that....share it!

How Much Money Can I Make?

You can make money selling Avon if you choose to!   You can do it with sales or combining sales with leadership.  We make between $1500 and $2000 per month right now doing Avon part time. How much anyone can make really varies upon how much you put into it.


First and foremost how you work your business is key. Then your commissions are based on your order size after the first 4 campaigns of a 40% commission. As seen below

$1550 or more 50%
$900 - $1549 45%
$425 - $899 40%
$285 - $424 35%
$145 - $284 30%
$25 - $144 20%
$00 - $24 0%

As a David McConnell Member which is product sales of over $66,500 you would make about $30,000 a yr.

It is possible to make good money with Avon if you work your business and run it like a business but it's not going to happen overnight. Most people usually give up before they get started. They don't manage the business properly and end up spending more than they make.

As with any job, if you don't show up or you don't do the work you won't get paid. If you don't work your Avon business and put in the time needed to find new customers and build your business you aren't going to make any money either.

If you opened a bakery and ate all the merchandise you won't make any money because you have nothing to sell. Likewise if you spend all the money you make on your own personal Avon products you won't see a profit either.

You want to batch your deliveries to save time and gas. Organize them so you deliver it all to one area in one trip. Give any customers who live too far to deliver a free shipping code out of the web office.

Be sure to submit your order on time, make the payments when due and only submit one order per campaign. As long as you keep to the schedule and do things properly you won't get charged the extra fee's and lose your profits.

I have seen people not do the above and wonder why they didn't make money. Avon is a well known name and has quality products at affordable prices. However you do need to put time in finding the people who love it. They are out there.

This can be an ugly time to look in the mirror if you’re a beauty executive.

Department-store sales for "prestige" beauty products are down $4 billion for the first half of the year. Even cosmetics giants such as Estee Lauder, which announced this month that it would shut down its high-end Prescriptives cosmetics line by Jan. 31, are hurting.

But while the Lauder brand is backing away from the cosmetics counter, a lower-priced household name is busy building up its bricks-and-mortar beauty business.

It’s Avon calling.

Avon Products has about 200 licensed Avon beauty centers in the U.S., including more than a dozen in Texas. But they’re relatively new in North Texas.

Long a direct-sales dynamo known for its person-to-person "Avon calling" campaigns and catalogs, the company now has its first licensed Avon beauty center on this side of the Metroplex, and the couple who own the store like what they’ve seen.

"It’s always good to be the first in," said owner Rusty DeBlassie, who in August added Avon to the mix at the Wild and Chic Boutique, which he and his wife, Yvette, operate in downtown Weatherford. They decided to try the line after seeing their first Avon store in north Dallas this year.

"I think we can make this work," said Rusty, 39. They devote about 70 percent of their floor space to Avon clothing, skin-care products and fragrances.

"The nice thing about cosmetics is, they’re small," he said. "On a per-square-foot basis, you can use the space more profitably."

Daryn DeZengotita, who has her own Avon store in north Dallas, first tried the concept four years ago with a display in a friend’s Curves fitness center.

"We set up the display, and it went really well," DeZengotita said. "It sort of just grew and grew."

She now has the DeBlassies and other retailers, including locations in Rowlett and Wylie, under her in Avon’s multilevel marketing network. As a "leadership representative," she receives a percentage of what her beauty-center owners order from Avon.

Rusty DeBlassie said the typical sale at the Weatherford store is about $30 to $40, which won’t buy a jar of overnight cream at some department store cosmetics counters. And he and DeZengotita think that given the economy, frugality is here to stay.

"Women are just not going to spend what they were spending at Neiman Marcus’ cosmetics counter," DeZengotita said. "They’re not going back."

Likewise, getting into the business is affordable. Apart from securing retail space, having an Avon account in good standing and three months of experience as an Avon sales representative, the only payment to Avon is a $10 fee. And unlike franchisees, beauty-center owners don’t pay monthly royalties or fees.

The company is not immune to the recession, however. In the first half of 2009, worldwide sales fell 11 percent, to $4.6 billion.

Still, a Kansas City-area Avon store owner thinks the company is making a smart strategic move by using a retail presence to target women during the recession. Elizabeth Demas, who owns an outlet in Overland Park, Kan., said she believes that customers will stick with Avon when the economy comes back, even if they can then afford higher-priced goods.
